Painted during the period Vincent Van Gogh voluntarily confined himself to the asylum in Saint-Rimy de Provence from May 1889 to May 1990, this period would prove to be one of his most creative as an artist.


Initially confined to the asylum grounds, Vincent deletes the bars that obscure his view and painted the world as he saw it. Landscapes, such as Poplars on a Hill, would be some of the most exquisite paintings he would ever produce.
